Trying to be more green and decided to try reusable storage bags. They seal well and the variety of sizes suits my needs. The only issue is cleaning, it's very difficult to dry them and they can start to smell.Love these bags. I went and ordered more.Ask me again in a few months. We've been making a lot of changes around our house as we run out of things to find eco-friendly replacements. So when we were offered these reusable pouches for free in exchange for our honest unbiased review, we were thrilled! We love these!- You receive a decent variation in sizes (2 gallon-sized, 6 sandwich bag sized, 5 snack size), so you can store a variety of things right away without having to buy multiple sets.- They ARE leakproof! My husband had to test out of curiosity. He filled them up with water, sealed them up, turned them upside down, gave them a good shake and even a decent squeeze and nothing leaked out!- The seals are not only strong, but super easy to use. They line up perfectly and you just press down. They don't just fall open (which is a good thing in our eyes), you do have to give them a good tug. However, they are still easy for our toddlers to open and close - which is a huge win for us, as they'll be going to school this fall.- We used them in the freezer and then held up great. We haven't had them in the freezer for months or anything super long-term yet. But we did freeze some left overs and I froze spinach that I use in my smoothies every morning. So every day I open the bag and the seal stays in tact and the food is still fresh.- They do seem a bit then when you get them and first I thought that this meant that they were lower quality than another set that we have. However, they seem to keep up to everyday use so far and the thinner material actually seems to make them expand more like a traditional baggie than some of the thicker ones do.Cons: None yet! We will update if we notice anything come up over time.Do the other, more crunchy homeschool mamas made snide comments about your disposable sandwich bags? Or perhaps your kids go to a yuppy school and are being blacklisted by the kids and talked down to by the teachers because your little darlings don't have a negative carbon footprint. Maybe you are just worried about the toxins in the cheapo plastic of other bags. This product solves all of these problems!I was delighted to order them and now I take them everywhere, filled with healthy snacks, and am accepted as part of the in-crowd.They are amazingly sturdy, easy to fill, and easy to clean! I imagine that due to their food grade silicone, I could cook a really oddly shaped, gluten free cake in one, although I have not tried yet. However, you can pour piping hot food into them without worry that they will melt or make your food taste odd later.I used them to store left over organic meatballs the other day, and my freezer did not smell of tomato sauce and oregano later! -- A modern day miracle!Oh, and they have a loop on one edge, this is likely designed for increased grip, but I like to use it to clip the baggies to my bag or belt. One less thing you need to stick inside your backpack when you go on that survival exercise in Europe.Downsides? They were a little hard to open when I first get them, and I was sure that they would rip if I roughed them up. But they did not! It was also oddly slick when I pulled the leftover meatballs from the freezer. These are a great product. I was a little concerned about the price being as high as it is, but they are 100% worth the investment and will save me the price many times over as I use them longer.I bought these bags a little over six months ago. They have been great for cutting down on plastic waste. I use everyday, including for freezing. Recently they have stopped zipping to close. I was very upset and about to throw them out UNTIL someone pointed out that if you rub a finger of cooking oil on the zip area there will close again. I tested and sure enough a little cooking oil gets them closing again with ease. Added bonus the amount of cooking oil used is so small, it doesn’t affect the food inside. I do recommend these but wish they came with a sign in big letters saying to oil the zip area for care and long term use. With the oil tip, these bags will last and are a great alternative for cutting down on plastic waste. These are good, although it is somewhat difficult to get the zippers to fully engage/close. But I do like that they are thick and reusable. I put mine in the dishwasher, even if it means they might not last as long. I just couldn't see myself hand-washing these so I took a chance on the dishwasher. I spread it over the tines to open it up so the water can get in there. It seems to work okay.I do find myself still using Ziplocs for things that are messy and those that might stain. But it's nice to have options.I hate how many ziplock bags i go through so i was excited to try a reusable option. So far i have been pleased with these bags and am still finding ways to use them.Pros:these are extremely heavy duty. They are made of a similar silicone used for cake pans and muffin tins to give an idea of how heavy duty these are. these would be great to throw in your camping box and not have to worry about them wearing out. The Slider seems to seal very well so you would never have to worry about a leak. Since it is made of silicone it has a very high temperature range which allows these to be used in more ways than a standard ziplock style bag. The description mentions sous vide which i assume they would do well for, but I thought they would be a great option for Omelettes in a bag. They also have a flat bottom when standing up this makes it easy to fill.Cons:While their thickness adds to their durability it also adds to their weight. I wouldn't want to store chips in these as i think they would get crushed. The slider is a separate piece so i think it would be easy to lose, and if lost the bags would lose most of their usefulness.
